The story so far

Your host and photographer, Michael Jones, began Smoke&Mirrors Studio in 2019.

At the time there were no boudoir photo studios in Christchurch, just a couple of photographers who did the occasional nude or erotic images. So we changed that and started Christchurch’s first boudoir photo studio.

It’s been a great success, as there are many Canterbury women who want to portray the sensual side of themselves.

We’ve seen many women through our studio who love our work. We’ve seen the boudoir photography industry grow, with two other good boudoir photographers establish businesses in Christchurch. And, sadly, we’ve seen a number of fly-by-nights who quickly discover that running a boudoir studio is hard work.

Lesson for potential customers: go to an established boudoir photographer.

Outside of Photography For The Modern Woman, Michael loves photographing dancers (Dance Project) and musicians (Music Project).
